About Traineeships
A traineeship is also a structured, employment based program with a combination of on the job and off the job training.
Traineeships nominally take between one to two years to complete although this can depend on the trainees progress through the required competencies.
Traineeships offer a broader range of vocational and occupational choices that traditional trade apprenticeships including introductory and pathway qualifications at Certificate I and II levels right up to Advanced Diploma level in some occupational areas.
A traineeship provides hands-on skills and work experience, and can improve your employment prospects and range of career choices.
Upon successful completion, a trainee will receive a nationally recognised qualification in their chosen vocational area.
Traineeships Programs
Mining and Resource Sector
There's a wide range of occupations in the mining and resources sector, ranging from drillers and miners to mechanics, electricians, fitters, machinists and fabricators, through to technicians, engineers, etc.
Plant Operator
As a Mobile Plant Operator you will operate heavy machinery on a civil construction site on projects that could include subdivisions, bulk earthworks, roadworks, and rail projects.
Business (Administration)
Almost every type of business has administrative functions. There are currently over 30 different traineeships available in Western Australia for Business, Administration and Finance roles
Civil Construction
There are currently over 20 traineeship options available in Western Australia for the Building and Construction sector. Most Civil Construction traineeships are 12-24 months in duration. It is also possible to progress through qualifications (articulating) to build on and gain more advanced skills.
Agriculture and Horticulture
Horticultural trainees can work in a range of settings from nurseries and sporting grounds to commercial food growing or arboriculture, local government authorities, and public and private facilities with outdoor green spaces.
